Ninetales

Ninetales

Hey guys! With the state championships done and over with, we saw a good amount of the same stuff winning. Today I will be going over a deck that, while it looks crazy, was able to win the Minnesota state championship. I don’t have the exact decklist but The Top Cut did a video about it and I took the list they gave as the starting point.

Crazy right? Now let’s go over how the deck is suppose to work and the actual strategy. Basically, hit the weakness of the opponent. Simple strategy until you try to divulge into trying to figure out how, so we will go over the cards individually and what purpose each has. Raichu, for 2 energy, hits for 20x the number of your benched pokemon. This allows it to ko the very powerful Yveltal ex for a single attachment. Also, up to 100 for a non-ex attacker is decent. Ninetales is a no flip catcher, upon evolution. This is nice because many players are not prepared for a slew of catchers to hit the board and be successful. For a fire, it also has the potential to ko all 170 hp exs (Flip heads on Hypnotoxic Laser, Virbank out, and Muscle Band) which is pretty cool.

Reshiram is to help the Genesect matchup. Send it up before they can Emerald Slash, and you are in control of the prize count. Ninetales can also help by using its ability, and taking ko’s on anything on the bench. Back to Reshiram, having an outrage guy isnt too bad. It forces your opponent to think a little more. Mewtwo ex is there because you play double colorless and it’s too good not to have. It can also counter other Mewtwo ex and Deoxys ex.

Kyurem ex is around to counter Landorus ex. The deck has no answer to it, so it needed something to combat it. A water attacker with outrage is fantastic. Mr. Mime prevents bench damage. So against Plasma Kyurem, Genesect ex, Darkrai ex, and Landorus ex it’s a good card to have. Jirachi ex is here because you run a low supporter count and you play a good amount of Level Ball which can search it out. Sawk is there for an easy ko on Thundurus ex, Plasma Absol, and Plasma Snorlax without wasting resources or using too much time.
Overall this is a really fun deck to play. I love what this deck brings to the table and is better than I originally thought it was. Forcing your opponent to take single prizes each turn is very underrated in the game and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
